Mosaic Blue

Hello from Lake George! I'm up visiting my fam (and my dogs!) and relaxing by the lake this week, and I wanted to share this look that my mom shot for me. I've mostly been wearing this jumpsuit in the city as an easy urban piece for work and fun, but I love how the comfy fabric and casual fit can also take it upstate to the lake.

This printed jumpsuit can be easily dressed up with heels and jewelry for a night in the city, or dressed down with sandals and an easy hair do for a comfortable daytime look. Seriously, this onepiece is so ridiculously comfortable and easy to wear that I kind of want to wear it everywhere everyday. I love the mosaic print which, while it is bold, is also chic and elegant. With a pair of lace up sandals and a vintage lapis necklace converted into a bracelet this look can take me anywhere. A sleek bun helps to keep my hair off my neck when the weather is so hot!

I mentioned recently that I love strapless styles for the summer, and this look is no exception. It balances out nicely since the legs are a little more covered yet the shoulders are exposed.
P.S. This clutch has a built in phone battery back up so you can charge your phone in the go! How cool is that?!

Jumpsuit: Veronica M. Shoes: Steve Madden via DSW. Clutch: TJ Maxx (available in white here, and check out this charging keychain). Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters. Lipstick: Sephora Rouge Shine color 65 "hot & fun."

Met Moment

Photos by Ting Chen.

As you can probably tell, I finally have my computer back up and running! It needed some fixing up at the Apple Store, but we are back to normal now. It felt kind of weird to take such a long break from the blog, but it was actually kind of nice to have a break too and just enjoy some down time. However, I am excited to be back sharing some new looks with you now!

Last weekend I had a lovely brunch on the Upper East Side with some friends and then we walked over to the Met to see the Manus X Machina exhibit at the Costume Institute. As you may know, this exhibit is all about technology in fashion and the dynamic between hand made versus machine made. Many of the displays featured work done with 3D printing, or machine made flowers painstakingly hand stitched onto a garment. There were even a few remote-controlled pieces which shifted and moved with mechanical elements. I will share a post next week with some of my favorite pieces from the exhibit, so look out for that if you're interested!

I wore this bright floral Alice and Olivia dress that I got at a warehouse sale last spring. It was a super hot day so a loose fitting dress was required and the back cutout on this one was a perfect detail for keeping cool. A simple bag and gold sandals complete the look for a casual but fun day with my girls!

Dress: Alice and Olivia (options: 1/2) . Bag: H&M (similar). Shoes: Splendid. Earrings:

And of course we finished the day off with cupcakes :)

Summer Lipsticks

When I reach for lipstick in the summer shades of pink are my definite go-tos. I recently updated my selection with two shades from M.A.C. ending up with a hot pink and a coral which are perfect summer shades. Between the two I almost don't need anything else! But it is always fun to experiment with new colors too and switch up your routine.

For the hot pink I selected Star Magnolia which will replace an old lipstick I had in a similar shade. It is a fun way to add a little pop of color to your look yet because it is a sheer formula it doesn't look overdone. I also really wanted to get a nice coral shade, and I ended up with Flamingo, a sheer shimmery peachy color. Both shades a bit sheer which, while it may need more frequent upkeep, is less noticeable when it fades so I don't have to worry too much if my lipstick is looking weird as it wears.

I also really like the color Sushi Kiss as a pretty summer coral (which I first saw on some bloggers and really loved!!) but they were out of it when I went into the store! Sad, but I will have to go back and get it another time because it is a really pretty matte coral option. The two new shades I got will go perfectly with my bright summer outfits and add a little fun to my makeup routine!
What are your favorite summer lipstick colors?

Lake Days

I've been MIA from the blog for the past week or so, but with good reason! I took a little vacation up to the Adirondacks to visit my family for a few days and relax by the lake catching some sun. I also romped around in this pretty striped dress for a bit!

I love the contrast of a pretty dress with a pair of sneakers. These pale suede Keds are the perfect match for a cute dress since they are simple, sleek and girly. Not to mention comfortable! They dress down the look enough that the preppy pinstripe dress doesn't feel out of place at the lake. The look is rounded out with a pastel pink bag that pops against the blue - on - blue of the dress by the water.

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer. Bag: French Connection. Shoes: Keds. Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters
Dress options-- similar shape 1/2/3/4 (has a bow detail!), strapless striped, similar print 1/2.

All American

Happy Fourth of July weekend!

What's more American than cutoff shorts, stripes, and sneakers? Not much. Add a red, white and blue color scheme and you have an outfit just screaming to be worn on the Fourth of July. This tee and jean shorts combo is casual enough for a backyard BBQ but also stylish enough for an afternoon outing. The long sleeves will keep you warm during the fireworks too. Anyone else as big a fan of 4th fireworks as I am?? I am always begging my family to go with me to see them!

I felt a little like Taylor Swift with the red lipgloss and Keds combo going on here. It's funny, people always tell me I look like her, but I don't really think so! However this outfit made me feel like her twin for sure. She really has an All American vibe to her style, complete with abundant stripes and classic styles that are the perfect inspiration for Independence Day outfits. Do you plan your holiday outfits ahead of time like me, or just go with the flow? I like to get festive and really dress for the theme of each holiday, it's just so much more fun that way!

Top: Express (old). Shorts: Blank NYC. Shoes: Keds. Belt: J. Crew. Bracelet: kate spade. Sunglasses: AJ Morgan.
