Spring Outfit Essentials

Spring means a chance to step up your color game and show off fun styles and silhouettes. That's just what I plan to do with this fun outfit ensemble. I wanted to highlight this outfit since it touches on all of my favorite spring essentials: flirty styles, blush pink, denim, and cute flats.

Classic nautical stripes are a great transitional print and a fun ruffle sleeve on this top I bought last year adds a flirty spring vibe. A pop of pastel pink is my go to for spring outfits, and this blush colored satchel is the perfect piece to add to a casual outfit. I tend to add touches of pink into any spring outfit when I can, it's just the perfect time of year to go overboard with pastels. I am also all about denim, no matter the season, but this time of year it starts to creep into our outfits in more unexpected ways, like these denim flats (which I am obsessed with currently!). Flats come back into play once the snow is gone for good but it might be too soon for sandals, so a pair like these is invaluable! They are super comfy and I just know I'll be pairing them with my everyday outfits all summer long for a classy touch.

Throw a few classic yet trendy pieces like these together with fun accessories like round shades and a soft pink lip and your outfit is made! I love that a look like this can be transformed by pairing it with jeans or a skirt, or even denim shorts! This look makes a statement yet remains classy and chic with a pairing of my favorite color combo: pink and blue. Seriously, how many of my outfits have incorporated this color dynamic? Quite a lot I might say!

What are your springtime outfit favorites?

Dream Closet

I have always enjoyed the styling and color coordinating that goes into home decor, which is very similar to fashion in those ways, and my recent job has me thinking about interior design on the daily. Sometimes I like to daydream about how I would decorate my future home, going through specific rooms in my mind and looking through Pinterest boards for inspiration. Of course I have always dreamed of having a walk in closet, and right now Arhaus has me imagining about how my dream closet would look fully decorated. In my imagination it would be a large walk in with plenty of hanging and shelf space for storing all my clothes and shoes, plus room for a little decor too.

My taste tends to be for bright white spaces peppered with fun colors, like hot pinks or pale blues, and always accents of gold. My ideal dressing room would have lots of light, plentiful mirrors, and a few comfy seats. I've always wanted to have a nice way to store and display my shoes, so a glass front shoe shelf or pretty shoe storage racks would be essential. I like to think of my favorite shoes as works of art that should be displayed and not hidden away in boxes! I love the idea of incorporating pretty pairs of heels into the decor, or lining them up on glass-encased shelves.

I am a huge advocate for natural light, so I think even a walk in closet should have a window allowing light into the space. So many closets are dim and windowless, which makes it hard to get dressed and see how your outfits and colors will really look in daylight! Of course lighting fixtures are essential in the room too, so a fun geometric chandelier from Arhaus in a gold finish to match the decor is the perfect touch. My style tends to be bold and girly with distinct lines and plenty of color, so this fun angular chandelier fits right in. Colorfully framed mirrors and a bright pink chair would also be ideal in this fun, feminine space and would help me feel inspired as I put together outfits every day.

My current set up (see a peek here) is an exposed clothing rack in my bedroom, which doesn't have nearly the amount of space I would like, so dreaming of a big walk in closet is only natural. I like to keep my current closet rack color coordinated since it looks so much more appealing and organized that way, and helps my room to look clean and crisp. I would continue this color coordination even in a full walk in, since it creates such an organized look, and I'm sure we all know how cluttered closets can get!
Have you thought of how you would design your dream closet? It's so fun to "window shop" online and create inspiration boards that outline your dream!

Pink For Fall

When fall arrives and everyone else starts reaching for their burgundy, mustard, forest green, brown and other deep colors, I turn to blush pink. For several years, and again this season, blush pink is my favorite shade for fall since it is still sweet and girly like my style, but somehow is perfectly wonderful among fall leaves and cool layers.

This outfit is all about shades of pinks and a pretty floral print, all layered up in a fall-appropriate way. I snagged this cute floral skirt from H&M recently since it is not only the perfect combination of my favorite colors, but the deeper burgundy and blue tones on the black background make it wearable year round. I wore it paired with this top and sandals a few weeks ago on a warm day, but I'm bringing it into these slightly cooler early fall days with a jacket and lace up flats now. I love taking black basics and saturating them with layers of blush pinks, like this taupey-pink jacket, shoes, and skirt combo. Something about black and blush is just a perfect fall color combo to me.

And don't mind the fact that this same little black bag is in every one of my looks recently, I just love it so much and it goes with everything!

Six Foot Three in Heels

Give me a 6 inch wedge, and suddenly I'm a giant! Such is the struggle of being a tall girl who loves heels. At this point in my life I usually only wear 4in heels or under so that I feel more comfortable, but today I decided to pull this pair out of my closet and give them a whirl. I love the bright rainbow stripe on these wedges, and the way that the nude upper tones them down so they really match with anything. I decided to pair them with a bright orangey shift dress for a fun and colorful ensemble.

A nude-colored bag plays off the shoes and keeps the focus on the colorful elements, while simple accessories finish the look. This easy shift dress has quickly become a favorite since it can be worn in so many ways. I have paired it with cute sandals and simple jewelry for work, with a lace up shoes for dinner out, and I plan to add a statement necklace and jacket to transition into fall. This bright orangey-red color is one I am consistently drawn to (as you may have noticed by now 1/2/3/4) and can never seem to get enough of!!

I am actually selling these wedges on my Poshmark account (username ccnoordsy), but since they are so fun and summery I wanted to give them a little love and wear them with a bright summer outfit.
I have a ton of old clothes and jewelry for sale on my Poshmark page, as well as several pieces that have been seen here on the blog! Re-selling old items is a great way to make room in your closet and gain a little cash for new purchases, and it's always nice to renew your wardrobe a bit with each season, so that means letting some old stuff go :( It can feel good though to make space and refresh with new items instead! Has anyone started thinking about fall fashion yet? I usually put it off because I can't bear to let go of summer!

All American

Happy Fourth of July weekend!

What's more American than cutoff shorts, stripes, and sneakers? Not much. Add a red, white and blue color scheme and you have an outfit just screaming to be worn on the Fourth of July. This tee and jean shorts combo is casual enough for a backyard BBQ but also stylish enough for an afternoon outing. The long sleeves will keep you warm during the fireworks too. Anyone else as big a fan of 4th fireworks as I am?? I am always begging my family to go with me to see them!

I felt a little like Taylor Swift with the red lipgloss and Keds combo going on here. It's funny, people always tell me I look like her, but I don't really think so! However this outfit made me feel like her twin for sure. She really has an All American vibe to her style, complete with abundant stripes and classic styles that are the perfect inspiration for Independence Day outfits. Do you plan your holiday outfits ahead of time like me, or just go with the flow? I like to get festive and really dress for the theme of each holiday, it's just so much more fun that way!

Cherry Blossom

One of my favorite things is seeing the flowers beginning to bloom in the spring. Just last week a little tree on my block burst into bloom with tiny pink flowers, and I spotted more pink-floral trees in Central Park, by the reservoir (which you may have seen on my instagram). Pale pink florals have even been making their way into my outfits!

Lace-up shoes are one of the top trends for spring. While I've got my eye out for the perfect lace-up sandal, I decided to pull these flats out of the closet. These were one of my first purchases from Zappos when I first discovered the site back in high school. I love the embroidered dragon motif and the lace-up detail. They are slightly edgy and so unique with a playful vibe that totally fits my style. I haven't worn these in quite awhile, so it was fun to bring them out since they are back on trend, and pair them with some newer pieces. This silky cherry blossom floral tee was the perfect piece to match with the shoes' colors and even continue the Asian-inspired vibe. It is fun to mix something new with an older piece to update the look and bring a little fresh excitement to an old well-loved piece.

I got this tee a little bit oversized, so I like to wear it tied up on the side or tucked a little. The neutral tones make it easy to wear, but the blush pink shade and flecks of green add a bit of color too. I like the way the floral earrings and pink sunglasses bring out the color in the top. Even though the shoes are over eight seasons old the look is fresh and fun for spring, mixing casual neutrals and fun, colorful accents.

Spring Favorites from Kate Spade

Licorice Heel and Dellie Wedge

Spring is right around the corner, and here in New York we can feel it already. Warmer days are already creeping in and even the groundhog says spring is on the way. It's hard to believe, but all the stores are getting in their spring collections already. At work, the racks are filling up with brighter colors and shorter sleeves.

My favorite spring collection to look forward to (unsurprisingly if you follow me) is my beloved Kate Spade. Not only is their spring line always full of fun bright colors and prints, but their advertisements are adorable too! Ugh, they get me every time. Below is a round up of my favorite products from the line, which I would love to add to my wardrobe! While I am trying (trying) to save money I think one of those phone cases might need to be mine soon--my phone definitely needs a spring update, am I right?
