Discovered: Sophia Webster

Pippa Pumps

I may have just discovered my new favorite shoe designer....! I have always been a fan of colorful crazy shoes that make a major statement, and just the other day I stumbled upon Sophia Webster shoes, and boy are they amazing.

I found her shoes when I was looking through the sale items on jcrew.com and fell in love with this gorgeous pair of Sophia Webster for J.Crew black and bronze heels with contrasting polka dots and stripes (pictured above). After reading the description about the shoe and this young designer I promptly looked up her website and fell in love with every single pair of shoes. They're simply stunning. While a lot of her designs are boldly colorful and patterned, there is also a selection of simpler shoes, though certainly not without some fun detail.

I have always loved scrolling through images of whacky Irregular Choice shoes, and their more wearable sister brand Poetic Licence, not to mention my love of the gorgeous Charlotte Olympia styles. The designs by Sophia Webster are equally charming and fun, but are a touch more elegant than Irregular Choice and something bold and fresh enough to rival the beloved Charlotte Olympia. What is it with these British ladies and their fabulous shoes? I feel like I might need to move to London or something...
These are some of my current favorites, below. Which pair is your fave?

Floral and Rips

Introducing my favorite purchase of the spring: ripped white skinny jeans. Not only are these probably the most pricy thing I've purchased this spring, but they've likely gotten the most use as well (aka totally worth it). Distressing at the knees adds a fresh take on the classic white jean look, and I've been pairing these with everything from a simple tee to a silky top. Today I brought out the sweeter side with this loose floral top.

The pleated style, square neckline, and flutter sleeves make this patchwork-print top fun and adorable. With the lacy details, I've been able to both dress it up and dress it down for different occasions. I purchased this top at my favorite French store, Promod, where I spent most of my money while I was in France a few years ago (oops). They have fun whimsical and trendy styles that are totally affordable, and totally can't-live-without. I still wear the pieces I got there all the time. I was excited to discover last summer that they've begun opening stores in the US!

A pink bangle and beige shoes finish the soft look while accenting the colors in the top.

Hello Yellow

My favorite yellow summer skirt is back! And once again I've paired it with white, and silver sandals, but this time with different details that make all the difference. Continuing the skirt's lace into the top, adding a few stripes, and bright yellow earrings keep the look updated.

This top has been getting a lot of use lately too (you saw it here recently). The simple cut, neutral white, and elegant detailing make it an easy match with so many outfits. It's always funny how certain pieces become favorites. The story behind this one is that I bought it from the sale rack at Zara a few years back, without even trying it on despite the fact that it is a size large. As long as I tuck it it it fits like a dream and goes with nearly everything in my closet, including this fun yellow skirt!

Skirt: J.Crew 1/2/3 (See how I styled it before here). Top: Zara 1/2. Clutch: Ruche 1/2. Shoes: Splendid. Necklace: Kate Spade. Ring: Jeanne Ruland. Nails: Sally Hansen "Blue Away."

Spring Flashback

My first spring in New York City is coming to a close! Can you believe it's just a few more days until it's officially summer?

To say goodbye to spring I wanted to do a little recap of some of my favorite outfits from this season. Not only is spring my favorite time of year but I've also found my style changing a little bit since living in the city and I'm really loving some of these recent outfits that I've shared on the blog. Spring is the perfect time of year to start wearing skirts and rompers full of rich colors with bright pops!
What's your favorite spring fashion look?

Orange Dinner Dress

Last week some friends and I decided to treat ourselves to a fancy dinner at a delicious restaurant. We wanted an excuse to get dressed up, wear those heels that always sit in the closet and indulge on delicious food, no limits. This textured orange dress was the perfect pick for a fancy dinner with my girls because it is both sexy and sophisticated. The tight fit is counterbalanced by the knee length and modest neck. A white denim jacket and striped clutch maintain the crisp color palette. I paired the look with some sandals for the earlier part of the evening before changing into a pair of nude heels for dinner.

Do you remember this dress? I picked it up for less than $10 at the Gilt City Warehouse Sale that I shared with you a few weeks back.

Dress: Best Society (1/2/3/4). Jacket: Gap. Clutch: Ruche (1/2/3). Necklace: BaubleBar. Sandals: Franco Sarto. Nails: Essie Turquoise and Caicos.

Simple

One of my favorite rainy day outfits involves these polka dotted pants paired with any matching top. The deep navy and off white of the pants fit the mood of a rainy day, while the dots add a touch of fun. With all the rainy weather we've had the past two weeks in New York I just had to pull them out of my closet! I've worn them with chambray in the past, but this time I matched them with a simple grey tee shirt, silver sandals, and dainty flashes of jewelry, like these new triangle earrings.

Casual, comfortable, simple, and fun. Thats the way I like my rainy days.

Pants: J.Crew (1/2). Shirt: Michael Stars. Sandals: Splendid. Necklaces: BaubleBar, and similar. Earrings: Gorjana

The 4 Best Colors for Your Toes

Last summer I discovered the perfect summer toe nail polish color, You're Such A Budapest by OPI. I've been obsessed with it ever since and was psyched a few months ago to finally find it for sale in a drugstore! (so of course I bought a bottle so I can do them at home)
It is finally the time of year to use it again, and I'm so excited. The soft lilac has cool tones which make it perfectly relaxed and not too cutesy-pastel. The shade of the color also changes in different lighting, making it more blue or grey or purple so it never gets boring!

In the colder months I usually stick to deep magenta and pinkish reds, of which OPI's Ate Berries in the Canaries and Paint My Moji-Toes Red are my respective favorites.

But once the weather gets nice I like to turn to more unique colors. My other warm weather essential color is Essie Turquoise and Caicos because it is a great soft hue that is so easy to wear on your feet but totally summery and fresh too. This color looks great on almost everyone, so it's definitely one to check out!

What colors do you swear by?

Shorts Aren't Always Casual

When you want to wear shorts but still look nice, what do you do?

Some days are just too hot to think about wearing anything other than shorts. But what if you still have to look nice and put together? These corduroy cutoffs are a good place to start because the dark color and the fabric are a little nicer than denim shorts. Adding a loose fitting detailed white top and strappy wedges elevate the look and make it more dressy.

Shorts: Jbrand (love these 1/2). Top: Zara (1/2). Wedges: Ruche. Bag: Rebecca Minkoff. Necklace: BaubleBar.

Diva

Happy June!

The easiest summery outfit to throw together: a graphic tee with a simple maxi skirt and sandals. This outfit is so effortless but it still looks put together while running errands or meeting friends for lunch. A playful punch with the printed tee is balanced out by the flowy and feminine skirt.

My tee features the ultimate diva herself, Marie Antoinette, sporting modern shades and the words "No More Photos." She was the queen of fashion of her time (pun intended) and a trendsetter for not only the population of France, but the world long after her time. Aside from my longstanding fascination with her and my undeniable obsession with the 2006 movie, I also share a birthday with Marie Antoinette! So I couldn't resist adding this tee to my collection. The irony of the words was not lost on me either.... so I had a little fun playing with the diva-status message!

I took these photos beneath the statue of another powerful woman, Joan of Arc.

Tee: Zara (1/2/3). Skirt: Francesca's (similar/last seen here). Bag: Rebecca Minkoff. Sandals: Splendid. Necklace: BaubleBar.
