Stacks of Sweaters...

'Tis the season for stacks of fluffy warm sweaters! And I'm not joking, since there is minimal storage space in my NYC apartment I have stacks of sweaters all over my room--the windowsill, the floor, my step stool (which literally never gets used for anything other than hosting stacks of clothing)... you get the picture. But it's okay, because winter is all about surrounding yourself with warm cozy things, and if I'm not currently wearing a cozy sweater it's nice to see them piled close by waiting to layer on and warm me up.

Since many of my favorite winter sweaters are in neutral tones I put together a few outfits featuring ways to wear winter neutrals. Layering with knits, little pops of color or sparkle, and mixing textures are some of my favorite ways to keep cozy neutrals anything but boring. Check out some of the ways I've styled these sweaters:

Sweaters from top left: Vintage Havana, Jamison, Francesca's, Paizlee, Wooden Ships, Athropologie.

Cheers to 2016

Well, can you believe it, it's the last day of 2015!? Where did this year go...

As you've probably come to realize, I love any excuse to get dressed up and wear something sparkly. New Year's Eve is the perfect night to wear sequins and heels and no one will think you're over dressed. So, I am taking this excuse to sparkle, and wearing my gold sequin skirt today paired with heeled booties and tights. On top, another piece that felt perfect for the occasion, a tee that says "Champage S'il Vous Plait" layered with a comfy black blazer. I couldn't resist the urge to throw on a sparkling necklace and red lip as well. Altogether the look is sophisticated and fun. All I need now is a glass of champagne in hand to ring in the new year!

Happy New Year's everyone!
Thanks to all who have been reading along this year!

Velvet (& A Vintage Vibe)

One last shoot with the Christmas tree before it started to droop: a quintessentially wintery outfit of luxurious velvet and a touch of sparkle. These velvet skinnies are deliciously cozy to wear on a chilly day, and it's seriously hard to take my hands off them, they're just so soft. The charcoal color of the pants is lightened a bit by the sparkle in the sweater and some bright earrings. You saw this sweater recently when I paired it with a full skirt, but it is a super easy piece to throw on with jeans as well, which gives it a more casual, drapey feel. I had to mess with these photos a lot to get the texture of the velvet to show up in the shots, but I like the way the coloring takes on a sort of vintage-christmas-card vibe.

Velvet pants: AG (in black). Sequin sweater: BB Dakota (similar). Boots: Steve Madden. Earrings: JoJo Loves You. Bracelets: Brandy Melville and Kate Spade.

Holiday Rush Recap

Life has been so busy the past two weeks, with all of the holidays keeping me on my toes. Between work, traveling for Christmas, and hosting visitors for New Years, I've neglected to keep up with the blog! I am a little sad because I had tons of content I was excited to share that got overlooked in the holiday rush, so I'm going to do a little reap for you now with some of the highlights.

I spent Christmas day at home with my family, snuggled up in a shimmery silver sweater and cozy socks, and bedecked with some new holiday jewelry! After that quick vacation I got back to the city and spent a few agonizing days trying to decide what to wear for New Years Eve. Tough decisions, I tell you! I ended up wearing my thrifted Nanette Lepore sequin sweater dress to work on NYE, and then changing into the black open-back dress with some glitzy jewels and bright pink lips for a night out celebrating with my friends.

I hope your holidays were enjoyable as well! With the start of 2015 I have also reached my 100th blog post! Yay!
