Orange Heel, Two Ways

I love a good colored heel, and I have been pining after this pair of coral-orange d'orsay heels for quite a while now. While they will have to wait on my wishlist a while longer, I am dreaming of ways to wear them.

(w's anyone? lol)

orange heel casual

The first look is a casual daytime ensemble that I pictured paired with this heel. I imagine a relaxed jean, long loose tank and a semi-structured jacket to create a casual chic outfit.

Orange heel dressy

The second way I envision these heels is with the BB Dakota Lief Dress, a shift dress with an incredibly flattering fit and slant pockets. Flirty wink earrings and a chic clutch make this a perfect combination for a night out.

Keeping a black and white color scheme keeps the looks clean and really lets the orange heels pop, but it would be fun to pair them with soft pastels or vibrant blues too!

Weekend Brunch

There is nothing better than meeting up with great friends you haven't seen in a while for a yummy NYC brunch. I had to squeeze this fun catch-up with college friends in before work on a Saturday, but it was totally worth it! Sipping a tasty mocha and chatting about old times and recent life-updates was the perfect way to spend a rainy weekend morning. One of my favorite sayings is the one that goes; the best friendships are the ones where you can be separated and nothing changes. So true, right? A classic look in silky pink was easy and effortless for the occasion, and cognac accessories added a nice warm-toned compliment. I layered with my fuzzy vest because I knew I would be cold at work, and it makes an effortlessly chic statement!

Cozy Monday

Rainy, rainy Monday…. All I want when the weather is gross is to be dressed comfortably in something cozy. This forest green military-inspired sweater was my solution to that desire. Not only is it warm and cozy but it is certainly not boring thanks to its structured fit and brass-toned buttons. The deep shade of green looked nice layered with crisp white and brass toned jewelry, but also called for some lace and a touch of sparkle to keep things feminine and fun.

I acquired this sweater on my semester abroad in college studying in France during one of the coldest and snowiest winters they'd had in a while. Anyone who's studied abroad knows how hard it is to pack everything you need for an entire semester into just one or two suitcases, especially when you like to have options, as I do. So naturally as it got to be winter I was freezing constantly, mostly because my room at my host family's home was not very well heated or insulated, and I didn't have enough warm clothes with me to combat the cold (sweaters and coats take up too much precious suitcase-space!). Of course, that meant only one, thing: I had to go out and buy more warm sweaters. I was successful at Zara and scored the one featured here, and a great button-down 'grandpa' sweater with elbow patches. Even four years later they are still some of my favorite sweaters when the temps start to get chilly!

Zipper Details

I just love the shade of cobalt blue of this sweater. It adds a nice touch of color to the wintery neutrals I've been mostly wearing lately, while still feeling like an appropriate seasonal shade. I love how the zippers add just a little something extra to the sweater, and the gold tone paired nicely with my metallic manicure. The bright color called for some sparkly earrings in a matching hue. The sweater cuts short in the front so I thought it would be cute to layer with a lacy tank, then add dark jeans and booties to finish the look.

Lilly Green

Lilly Pulitzer is such a summer classic. Every year I admire the new summer line, although I'll admit that I'm not big on wearing bold prints head-to-toe. So, I usually opt for some of her print-less pieces such as this easy dress. This teal-green hue has been taking over my wardrobe recently and I'm loving it as a summer color. The fabric and relaxed fit of this dress make it such an easy throw-on that doesn't even need much accessorizing, and I really love the racer back style with the gold ring detail.

I opted to wear the dress with classic pearls and a chunky gold bracelet that accentuated the preppy Lilly vibe, but this dress could also be worn with a jean jacket and statement earrings, or even as a beach cover up with sandals and a floppy hat. I think next time I wear it I am going to dress it up with my funky and bold coral-pink drop earrings...

White Hot

You know those days when it's 90 degrees, humid, and too hot to wear anything black? We've had a bunch of those lately, and this outfit is the perfect solution to beat the heat. Granted I wouldn't wear a long sleeve outdoors in that heat for any period of time, but this airy blouse is perfect in the evening as the sun is getting low but the heat still lingers. Wearing all light colors keeps you cooler, and also has a distinct summery feel to it. I wouldn't be brave enough to wear all bright white as has been trending this summer, but mixing shades of white with beige and black and bright gold jewelry keeps the palette varied but light.

I've been on a bit of a Kate Spade kick recently. We sell her products where I work, and the style is both classic, bold, and girly all at the same time. You may have noticed that I wear these earrings (in this color and the bright coral) a LOT, I may be a little obsessed but they really go with everything. So, naturally I just bought them in another color today, a beautiful iridescent that I'm sure you'll be seeing me wear soon.

Lacy Casual

Now that I can bare to bare some skin my distressed jeans are back in full swing: I've been wearing them practically every day these past two weeks. They are so easy with a casual outfit and somehow add just enough of a style conscious edge to a laid back look. I've been pairing them with my metallic Sperrys or my floral sneakers a lot, and I roll the cuffs up once since the jeans are a bit short on me (as usual--rolling the cuffs makes it look intentional that my jeans are so short. Tall girl problems!). I wore them with those floral sneakers and a polkadotted baseball tee the other day for a feminine sporty/casual look, and here I paired them with some lacy girly pieces. This oversized teeshirt is one of my favorites because it is so sweet and girly with the lace and chiffon panels and the pink ribbon details. I feel like the tee and the lacy bag brought the perfect amount of femininity to the jeans and Sperrys duo. This outfit was so easy to throw together, yet I still looked cute enough for a day running errands around town.

May Flowers, As Promised.

You may remember this dress… I included it in my list of favorite items on ModCloth a few weeks ago. Well, somehow or another it found its way into my closet... Actually, this is how it happened: When I discovered this dress it was nearly out of stock, and was not available in my size, but as luck would have it one became available in my size. Best day ever! My guess is someone returned the dress, but it certainly made my day and I added it to my shopping cart immediately. (Sidenote: they just restocked all of the sizes!) The dress is even more stunning in person than it looked online. I love when that happens. The colors are so vibrant and pretty, and it includes all my favorites; orange, aqua, lavender, and pink. The details are so bohemian chic with the slight hi-lo hem and the cut-out in the back. Best part about it? This dress has pockets. Boom.

Black & White & A Balcony

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/12144703/?claim=db8hn7ejny3">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

This sequined owl teeshirt was a score on the sale rack at French Connection in Montreal but I've had trouble finding ways to wear it. I've written about my love for owls before, but they can be really hard to wear without looking too youthful or too gaudy. I chose to pair this tee with white jeans and my new black and white Emma Fox bag, with a blazer to layer. For a dressy finish I donned nude heels, but for a more everyday look I would absolutely wear this outfit with cute sandals too. Black and white is such a classic combination that it tones down the sequins and owl motif and creates a polished look. In my summery white crop jeans I'm ready to spend time outside perched on a balcony with a good book and a mocha iced coffee in hand!
